Brief Bio:

In 2006, I completed my undergraduate study in Applied Chemistry from Ambo University, Ethiopia. After serving a year as a graduate assistant in the same University, I joined the Erasmus Mundus program to study Materials Science. During this time I worked on the synthesis of CNT-based polymer composite materials with the aim of improving the mechanical properties of the matrix.  Later, I joined Professor Wendimagegn´s laboratory at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia to work on the synthesis of carbazole- and dibenzosilole-based DA conjugated polymers, respectively. I graduated in 2012 and returned back to Ambo University to serve as Organic Chemistry lecturer.  In February 2014, I joined Kasper´s group at Chalmers University of Technology to work as a PhD student in the area of single molecule electronics.

Research Interests:

Due to my interdisciplinary field of study, my research interest also involves interdisciplinary areas of applications. My main research focus is on the synthesis of organic molecules with relevance in photovoltaic, OLED and OFET applications. I am also interested in the surface functionalization of nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and other nanoparticles to exploit their unique mechanical, electrical and magnetic properties to use them in various areas of applications.
